Mission & Goals

Mission

The Blooming Grove Historical Society collects, preserves, and interprets artifacts and materials related to the history of the Blooming Grove Dunkard settlement. It serves the citizens of Hepburn and Eldred Townships and greater Lycoming County through exhibitions, publications, and programming related to the history of Blooming Grove and by providing access to the historical artifacts and documents in its collection.

 

Goals

The Blooming Grove Historical Society serves its membership and the public through

 

bulletThe maintenance and operation of its museum
bulletThe preservation of the Dunkard Meeting House
bulletThe annual publication of The Journal of the Blooming Grove Historical Society
bulletOngoing research into the genealogy of the 11 founding families, the history of the Dunkards, and related topics
bulletThe programs of the biannual meetings of the Society
bulletOngoing exhibitions and interpretation of its collection
bulletCollaboration with other regional historical societies with compatible goals to provide educational services to schools and other groups and individuals.
